The purpose of the Worship Ministry of First Baptist Church Urbandale is to first and
foremost glorify God in word, both spoken and sung, and to bring Him glory through our
actions. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible through our music to teach, edify,
and nurture them into a loving and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Our
sincerest desire as we sing is not only to worship in spirit and in truth but to also lead others
to the very throne room of God Almighty. As we inspire others to worship we hope that as
they become better informed they too will be able to lead others to “Enter His gates with
thanksgiving and His court’s with praise.” (Psalm 100:4)
The Worship Ministry believes that in all we do we should glorify God and lead others to
worship Him. If our efforts do not meet this desired effect then the effort is not worth our
time. In order to facilitate the desired effect we present music on a weekly basis and other
numerous occasions including Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, and other occasions
throughout the year.
As part of our ministry we also believe that we should encourage as many people as possible
to use their gift of music to serve the Lord.
In addition to the role the individual members of the Music ministry play in the life of our
church, we also believe that the choir and the musicians are a family. As such, we exist to
build each other up and admonish one another in the faith. (Ephesians 4:29) Prayer,
fellowships and socials play a vital part in this ministry.
